Мягкое иносказательное выражение, типа изредка используемого у нас "пустить голубя". Последнее вспомнилось по анекдоту, кончающемуся так: "Еще одного голубя выпустишь - всю голубятню разломаю!"
Но LET HIM GO будет уже очень неприятное выражение из офисного жаргона, означающее, что человека уволили (якобы отпустили, якобы на свободу).
